Considering Block Paved, Resin or Tarmac Patio?

If you’ve thought of having your back garden renovated with a tarmac patio, this blog is for you. With so many options out there to consider, such as block paving, resin, or other materials, it can be hard to know what to pick for the best result.

Within this blog, we’ll be covering the various types of material you can use for your back garden project, such as tarmac. We’ll discuss the benefits of each option as we go.

What is a Patio?

It may seem pointless, but it is crucial to consider what we’re discussing here. A patio refers to an extension of the home that provides a seamless transition between inside and outside. This area is ideal for laying out furniture for back garden parties or creating play areas for children.

The material you use can affect the patio’s suitability. More durable materials mean you can be rougher with them, or they can be easier to clean. Likewise, you must consider how these materials will absorb heat in the hotter months.

Why have a Tarmac Patio?

There are many reasons to choose a tarmac patio, which we’ll cover in the section below. Suffice to say, it is a popular option for many homeowners.

What Material Can I Use for My Patio and Why?

There are over a dozen materials to choose from, but we’ll be focusing on a smaller list of the best materials to use.

Tarmac Patio

A tarmac patio looks modern, slick and is easy to clean, but it’s also relatively cheaper than most materials. Nowadays, an affordable tarmac patio is within reach of most, thanks to the significant increase in landscapers capable of working with tarmac.

A tarmac patio is also durable and is overall more resistant to the elements when compared to other materials that could otherwise become stained.

We’ve previously advocated for this material in other areas, such as when we wrote about homeowners considering tarmac driveways as an option, and we can attest to its worth.

Resin Patio

At the top of the list for using resin surfacing is, of course, the range of colours and designs. It offers greater versatility, like block paving or a tarmac patio, with plenty of options that allow for a greater array of patterns.

It is also durable and can be laid down quickly. However, when it comes to repairs or, in the worst case, a poor installation, it can be expensive to fix. At the same time, resin is overall one of the most expensive options.

Concrete Patio

At the other end is that of concrete. When it comes to paving in Warrington, our area of operation, we see a great deal of concrete employed for both driveways and bases. This is because it is both durable and relatively low-cost in comparison to many other options. And it can be easy to repair.

Though, as you would expect, it lacks that flexibility of style. So you will have far more limited commercial options when it comes to the overall aesthetic design.

Block Paving Patio

Like many driveways, block paving is useful in patios. One of the key benefits is that you can replace individual blocks easily. Often, even being able to do so by yourself. Saving both time and money when it comes to maintenance.

However, block paving can remain a high cost measure, which is why you don’t see it used as often for Warrington landscapes.
