We’ve got a lot of experience with Warrington driveways over the years. That is why we know some are fairing better than others. What we have found is there is a lack of education on proper ways to take care of a driveway. With many suffering because of this.

Whether that’s seen as cracks or stains, it’s a problem. One we want to try to address a little. By offering up our own insights into how you can take care of your driveway.

Warrington Driveways Maintenance, the Simple Stuff

To begin, let’s go over what can be done in around 20 minutes.

Cleaning your driveway regularly is key to keeping it healthy. Debris will build up on your driveway over time no matter the season. We’re talking about leaves, stones, dirt and more. All of these can grind against the surface of the driveway or get between the cracks in brick laid driveways.

However, try to avoid using chemicals in the cleaning process. Since they can damage the surface of your driveway or leave permanent marks.

Especially those that are not designed for driveway use. We’ve seen the marks on enough Warrington driveways to know de-icer can be harmful. That is due to the fact using a de-icer not rated for stone/brickwork will always cause issues.

Snow and ice clearance in general is good but should be done carefully. When it comes time to clear out the driveway make sure it’s done with a soft body shovel. Metal shovels can very easily chip or cause scrape marks.

Warrington Driveways Maintenance, the Harder Work

There is more that can be done but of course these measures take more to implement.

What I will always stress on the many Warrington driveways I’ve worked on is the use of sealant. Even if a crack or chip seems harmless it can cause issues later. Water and plants will fill the gap if left alone. Which will then erode or crack the surrounding stone. Turning small chips into large cracks.

Not to mention water can get into the base through these openings.

Besides that, there is of course the biggest option. Renovation.

Across my experience working with clients I’ve found there is often one option that can truly make a difference. Renovation. Whether we’re talking about Warrington driveways or beyond, it holds true.

Sometimes the original design may have compromised stability, drainage, etc. Or alternatively, over time parts of the driveway has degraded too far.

Renovation stands as a legitimate option in maintenance efforts here. You may just have to rebuild parts of the driveway in order to ensure long term health. If not, then renovating through landscaping can also make a difference. Clearing lanes to allow water flow and cutting back soil banks to avoid plants growing into the driveway itself.
